Not Quite “27 Dresses”… But I’ve Been Around the Aisle a Few Times
Okay, so no—my wardrobe isn’t bursting with 27 bridesmaid dresses (thankfully, because some of those satin numbers deserved to stay in 2009). But I’ve been to more weddings than I can count—and not just as a guest holding a warm champagne. I’ve been in flower girl mode, junior bridesmaid sass, back-of-house chaos coordinator, and full-blown clipboard-carrying legend before it ever became my job.
Mum & Dad’s Big Day: Where It All Began
First memory? Me in a flower crown, sneaking slabs of fondant cake (regret), and crashing under a table mid-macarena. My parents’ wedding was my first taste of the magic, and even though I couldn’t spell “reception” yet, I was HOOKED.
Auntie Kat Era: Junior Bridesmaid Energy
My first real wedding gig? Junior bridesmaid for Aunty Kat—and let me tell you, I was living. Dress shopping felt like I’d walked straight into a movie. I had a custom-made dress to match the “big girl” bridesmaids, got my hair professionally styled (with a lot of hairspray), and felt like the ultimate mini fashion icon.
It was all so glamorous. Watching Aunty Kat float down the aisle, I was taking in every tiny detail—the flowers, the music, the magic of it all. That day was the moment I knew I was hooked. I’ve been collecting wedding inspo ever since (and I haven’t stopped).
Aunty Emel’s DIY Masterpiece
Next up? Aunty Emel’s wedding—a full-blown love-fest pulled together with serious heart and a uni-student budget that had no business going as far as it did. Handmade signage, thoughtful little touches, and a full DIY setup that honestly gave major Pinterest vibes before Pinterest was even a thing.
It all went down at St Pat’s in Ballarat and was creative, emotional, and ridiculously special. It proved you don’t need a huge budget to create a beautiful wedding—just heart, hustle, and maybe a few late-night crafting marathons.
Also… it was the first wedding I could legally drink at. And let’s just say I cried. A lot. Not in a microphone, just quietly (and emotionally) in the corner telling everyone how much I love love. They still bring it up, of course.
The Bestie Wedding: The One That Was So Ahead of Its Time
Ahh, this wedding. Rugs on the lawn, pizza vans slinging slices, and shots on arrival like a warm, boozy hug. There was no aisle walk, no formal sit-down dinner, and zero stress about tradition. Just a dreamy little farm outside of Echuca, heartfelt vows, and the most laid-back crew dancing barefoot under the stars.
It was fun, raw, and ridiculously them—and honestly? They nailed the whole “unwedding-y wedding” vibe way before it became the Pinterest aesthetic. Total trendsetters. I was obsessed then, and still am.
Kirstie’s Wedding: AKA The Bon’s Wedding Club Origin Story
This wedding was the moment. When Kirstie asked me to help her out on her big day, I went all in—and I mean all in. We took the Cattle Shed in Horsham and turned it into straight-up magic. Think fairy lights, florals, and a whole lot of elbow grease (plus maybe a few Cruiser breaks).
It was extra special, too—me and Georgie (now both married to the groomsmen, mind you) were side by side the whole day. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed, danced, or drank that much in one night. It was chaos, it was beautiful, and it was the night I realised—yep, this is what I was meant to do. (Even if it took me a few years and one wedding of my own to officially start Bon’s Wedding Club.)
From mini flower girl moments to full-blown wedding planner mode, my journey has been full of chaos, joy, colour, and so much love. And if you’re out there wondering if you can actually pull off your dream day without losing your mind—spoiler alert: you can. I’ve seen it all, and I’m here to help make it happen.
